It is common for people to worry about going to the dentist. Some may be very nervous and some may actually feel sick to their stomach. Some people become so nervous or agitated that they just don’t go to the dentist; but this can lead to serious dental problems, including infected gums and broken down teeth, difficulty chewing, and lack of self-confidence that comes from bad teeth or just bad breath.  At Veera Family Dentistry we understand your anxiety and specialize in making you feel safe and comfortable.

When the nerve to a tooth is irritated it often results in a toothache or tooth pain, but there are numerous other causes for tooth pain. Tooth pain can sometimes be relieved with over-the-counter medications, but this should always be temporary.  Only a dental evaluation can assure the source of the pain is found and remedied. The longer a tooth pain goes untreated, often the more complicated the problem becomes.  Don’t procrastinate getting your dental appointment if you are in pain.  If you call before 12:00, we will get you in the same day.

Tooth decay is one of the most common of all disorders and is the #1 chronic childhood illness. Cavities are typically painless until they grow closer to the nerve or center of the tooth. Untreated decay destroys the enamel and the internal structure of the tooth thus resulting in pain, infection and tooth loss. At Veera Family Dentistry we are committed to keeping your teeth healthy and educating you regarding your oral health.  We use state of the art technology that allows us to detect decay in the earliest stages, saving and preserving precious enamel.  When decay is detected our dentists use only the best materials to restore your teeth to healthy all the while keeping you comfortable and at ease.

When a tooth breaks your tongue can usually feel the sharp area even if there is no pain. If a large piece of the tooth breaks off  the nerve inside the tooth may be damaged causing pain. If it is exposed to air, or hot or cold foods or drinks, it can be extremely uncomfortable.  At Veera Family Dentistry we determine if the break was caused by cavities, clenching / grinding, or just incidental trauma and if the tooth’s nerve is in danger. Depending on the severity of the break, the tooth may need a filling, an inlay, onlay or crown. A damaged nerve usually will require root canal treatment. Our exceptional team of dental professionals can evaluate and recommend the best treatment needed to restore your teeth!

If your tooth is chipped, you want to set an appointment as soon as possible before it is damaged further or becomes infected.  There are a couple of different options for fixing a chipped tooth depending on the size of the chip and where it is located in the mouth.  Cosmetic bonding can be used to repair the chip with a highly aesthetic bonding material applied directly to your tooth. If the chip is too large, or there are other cracks or fractures in the tooth, or if there is too much chewing force on the tooth,  a porcelain veneer or crown might be recommended. At Veera Family Dentistry we will discuss the pros and cons of all the options and decide on the best one for you!

Gum disease affects seventy five percent of the United States’ population, ranging from simple gum inflammation to major damage to the soft tissue and bone that support the teeth.  If not treated, the bones, gums and tissue that support the teeth can be destroyed resulting in tooth loss. At Veera Family Dentistry we make sure your teeth and gums are as healthy as possible. When we find unhealthy areas, we will educate you about options to get things back to health. We also help our patients avoid deep, painful cleanings and gum surgery with our conservative custom treatments for unhealthy gums. If you have any symptoms of gum disease, call today to make an appointment. Don’t let infection continue to eat away at your gums and teeth.  We will make you comfortable and relaxed as we help you regain a healthy mouth.

A root canal is a treatment used to repair and save a tooth that is badly decayed or has become infected. During a root canal procedure, the nerve and pulp are removed and the inside of the tooth is cleaned and sealed. Without treatment, the tissue surrounding the tooth will become infected and abscesses may form. At Veera Family Dentistry we perform root canals with great care and compassion so you feel at ease as we take care of your teeth.

An abscess is where there is proliferation of bacteria into your systemic circulation through your teeth. The blood supply and nerve inside the tooth is severely compromised causing death or neurosis of the pulp.  The bacteria keep multiplying in the bone of your upper or lower jaw, spreading to spaces between the tissues causing pain, localized or generalized swelling and a general lethargic feeling. Signs of oral infection can be bleeding gums that are puffy or red, foul odor, tenderness or pain. If you are experiencing any of these symptoms or if it’s been awhile since you’ve seen a dentist, call us today to schedule an examination.

If you already have tooth discoloration and brushing doesn’t seem to work, there are several options for removing or covering tooth stains. These can range from different types of cleaning technology to dental veneers.  We also provide teeth whitening performed in office or offer take home options.  All procedures available at Veera Family Dentistry are proven safe and effective in treating teeth discoloration.  Call for a free consultation. (989) 793-6731
